Volunteer Web Developer/Designer (Volunteer/Freelance Role)
ChiDAES Canada | Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Volunteered time and skills to do a full website redesign for the ChiDAES Canada, a not-for-profit organization that raises money for children in need living in Eastern Sri Lanka. The website went live in May 2012. Website maintenance is done on an ongoing basis upon the request of the client.
The web development aspect of this role:
- In the planning stages, wire frames were created to set up the site architecture in order to place content in areas of the site that would be easy for users to find and to give the "well-wishers" as much exposure as possible.
- Copy-edited existing website content. New copy was written based upon media that was provided by the client.
- Created, sliced, and optimized the layout design.
Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3, Mac OS X - The website was developed using a variety of innovative web technologies. Quality assurance testing was done to check for cross browser compatibility. Although the site has been optimized to give a great user experience in all modern browsers, CSS3 was used to give users using the most up-to-date browsers an enhanced experience.

Web Developer (Full-Time Role)
Trimark Sportswear Group | Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada
Worked as the sole, in-house, web developer and email marketer at Trimark Sportswear Group, a corporate leader in the development and manufacturing of logo/decorated apparel. Trimark Sportswear Group's parent company is Polyconcept North America, the same company that also owns Leed's, a leader in logo/decorated promotional items. As a member of the Marketing Team, responsibilities included designing and developing web content, building and deploying email campaigns to internal and external audiences, and coordinating projects with the ERP provider for software updates that affect the website's content management system. Also assisted with creative design edits and overflow design work. Most projects were for Trimark Sportswear Group with the exception of the development of an email template for Trimark Powered By Leed's brand in the United States.
The web development aspect of this role:
- Created and updated web content using HTML/XHTML, CSS/CSS3, and Javascript/jQuery.
- Uploaded HTML/XHTML content onto Trimark's website using the ERP system.
- Updated database fields/records in the ERP system both manually and with database file loads.
- Ran cross browser compatibility testing on new web content before going live.
- Composed detailed software change request documents with mockups for use by the ERP provider to add/update functionality to ERP software that controls the website.
- Communicated with the ERP provider on a regular basis regarding the status of ongoing projects and run quality assurance testing on completed projects.
- Ran quality assurance testing along with cross browser compatibility testing for projects completed by the ERP provider. If testing was successful, gave approval for work to go live.
- Created detailed step‑by‑step instructional guides and emails (with both copy and visuals) for co‑workers on how to make changes to the website using the ERP system.

Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto is a luxury hotel/condominium building located in Toronto's financial district. Helped out with overflow font end development, graphic design, and email marketing projects. Projects included a micro site for the Chocolate Lab at Stock Restaurant Bar & Lounge, a landing page for a holiday gift card campaign for Stock Restaurant and Quartz Crystal Spa, and an email campaign for Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto.
- Sliced and optimized design files provided by the client.
Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3, Mac OS X - Built web pages with XHTML/HTML and CSS. The layouts were based on designs provided in Adobe Photoshop .psd files.

Web Developer/Graphic Designer (Freelance Role)
Grand & Toy (an OfficeMax company) | Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Grand & Toy is a large Canadian business-to-business office solutions company that has been around for over 130 years. OfficeMax, a global leader in office supplies, now owns the company. Took part in front end development and design for the new Grand & Toy corporate website (launched in late 2010) as well as graphic design work for the "G&T Big Deals" (English) / "G&T Giga Promos" (French) online campaign.
The web development aspect of this role:
- Built web pages using HTML/XHTML and CSS in Adobe Dreamweaver. The web pages were based on .psd layouts. Prior to building the web pages, the design files were sliced and optimized in Adobe Photoshop.

PHP Developer/Designer (Full-Time Contract Role)
Therefore Interactive Inc. | Newmarket, Ontario, Canada
Worked as a PHP Developer/Designer for Therefore Interactive Inc., a boutique agency in Newmarket, Ontario. Responsibilities included managing projects with clients, front and back end development, building and distributing email campaigns, and training clients on how to update web content and send email campaigns on their own. Took part in the management and development of multiple projects for agencies and partner companies as well as projects with these clients: Canada Lands Company (arms length federal Crown corporation of the Government of Canada), Saint Elizabeth Healthcare (Markham), and FonAngle (New York). Also worked on projects for clients in the food and beverage, adult beverage, legal, energy solutions, healthcare, not-for-profit, and life coaching industries.
The web development aspect of this role:
- Assigned projects to the development team using the web application, Redmine. Ran quality assurance testing on the work done by the team. If testing was successful, uploaded the work to live sites.
- Communicated directly with clients over the phone, via email, and with the web application Basecamp to complete projects to their specifications.
- Developed a website from scratch for a client in the healthcare industry. The website featured a dynamic news section that automatically displayed content from an external RSS feed.

Created and populated web pages for many sites by following site architectures and flow charts provided. Was responsible for setting up Google Analytics on most sites. Was also repsonsible for maintenance (keeping Drupal modules up-to-date) on many of these websites.

Took part in a collaborative project with Fanshawe College and EK3 for 4OUR Mobile Communications. The goal for this project was to create an advertising campaign for a telecommunications company. Was responsible for the development and some design of the website. Finished in the top five out of eighteen groups. EK3 is an agency based in London, Ontario, Canada that specializes in in-store digital merchanding and has high-profile clients all around the world.
The web development aspect of this project:
- Used Flash to design the animation in the header area. Other team members provided the mobile device and banner imagery. Also created animated Flash banner ads for the campaign.
