KamKarmaMedia is experienced with the following scripting languages:

Skillful with using / building php-based content management systems as well as building web pages from scratch in order to display dynamic content. Also experienced with open source frameworks and libraries as well! Websites are tested across major web browsers to ensure cross-browser compatibility.

Recently, KamKarmaMedia has started experimenting with CSS3 in efforts to enhance the user experience in up-to-date browsers that are able to support the new technology. KamKarmaMedia believes that CSS3 can be useful for offering an enhanced experience for those using current browsers, as long as those using older browsers can still enjoy an experience free of errors.

Proficient with both creating and working from site architectures; an essential step when planning a web project.

★ Software

Adobe Dreamweaver

  • Very experienced with setting up a website locally and on a remote server.
  • Proficient with using the built in FTP tools.
  • Well versed in creating snippets with keyboard shortcuts.
  • Experienced with using the Spry tools.

NOTE: Despite having experience with Spry tools and FTP within Dreamweaver, KamKarmaMedia believes in coding from scratch with love ♥. Dreamweaver is generally used for the way it displays code and its ability to streamline tasks by autocompleting code as it is typed.

MAMP (Mac)

  • Well versed with using MAMP as a local Apache server.
  • Experienced with creating databases with phpMyAdmin and MySQL.
  • Knowledgable with setting up subdomains with localhost.

Navicat

  • Knowledgable with using Navicat to work with databases on live servers locally.

Note Pad (PC)

  • Experienced with using Microsoft's default text editor as a coding environment.

Text Edit (Mac)

  • Well versed with Apple's default text editor as a coding environment.

SyncroSVNClient (Subversion)

  • Knowledgable with using this software as a subversion client to work on projects with multiple developers at the sametime.

WAMP (PC)

  • Well versed in using WAMP as a local Apache server.
  • Experienced with creating databases with phpMyAdmin and MySQL.

★ PHP Frameworks

Drupal 5-6 (Open-Source Content Management System)

  • Skillful with building fully customized Drupal-based sites from scratch.
  • Experienced with custom theming / layout design using CSS, HTML/XHTML, and the Drupal API.
  • Well versed in creating custom content types that are much more advanced than the default "Page" and "Story" content types that ship with Drupal.
  • Experienced with the most commonly used modules.

Joomla (Open-Source Content Managment System)

  • Some experience with modifying content on an existing website.

PHP Mailer (Open-Source Library for Email)

  • Knowledgable with using this library to send out emails with custom templates created with CSS and HTML/XHTML and attachments to multiple To, CC, and BCC email addresses.

Simple Machines Forum (Open-Source Bulletin Board)

  • Some experience with installing and theming for SMF.

Wordpress (Open-Source Content Management System)

  • Some experience with modifying content on an existing website.

Simple Pie (Open-Source Library for RSS)

  • Experienced with using this library to display custom styled data on a webpage from an RSS feed hosted on a different website. This is done with PHP/Simple Pie and CSS.

jQuery (Open-Source)

  • Proficient with setting up rotating banners.
  • Well versed with creating show/hide/toggling content with clickable links.
  • Skillful with setting up a tabbed navigation to display a collection of information on a single webpage.
  • Experienced with using the qTip plugin for creating custom tooltips.
  • Well versed with using the jQuery Bubble Popup v3.0 plugin for creating custom word bubbles/tooltips.

Spry (Open-Source)

  • Knowledgable with using Adobe's AJAX framework for accordion navigation.

Lightbox 2 (Open-Source)

  • Skillful in working with Lightbox 2 to open images on top of the current web page by clicking on a link.

IE6 Update (Open-Source)

  • Well versed with setting up this library to display a bar to Internet Explorer 6 users only that looks similar Internet Explorer's information bar to let users know that they should update their browser.

NOTE: Every effort is made to allow websites to be functional in IE6 though some of the bells and whistles that are possible in contemporary browsers may not be available.

Suckerfish (Open-Source)

  • Knowledgable with using this library to setup dropdown navigational menus that can be styled with CSS and look great in all major browsers.

  • Well versed with the Static FBML application to add boxes and tabs with custom HTML/XHTML and CSS content.

  • Knowledgable with embedding videos into webpages.

Google Analytics

  • Experienced with setting up Google Analytics to track site statistics that clients can access and use to improve site traffic.

★ Typography

sIFR (Open-Source)

  • Experienced with using sIFR to display dynamic text in fonts that would not typically be web-safe on both dynamic sites built from scratch and within the Drupal content management system.
  • Skillful in using CSS to style text displayed using sIFR.

Google Web Fonts API (Open-Source)

  • Skillful with using the Google Web Fonts API to display and dynamic text in fonts provided by Google onto a web page.
  • Experienced with using CSS and CSS3 to style dynamic text displayed using the Google Web Fonts API.
